Where the crawdads sing

When I read Where the Crawdads Sing back in 2018 I was in awe. I have always said To Kill a Mockingbird is my favorite book of all time, but when I read this new book it took over the number one spot in my heart.

When I heard a movie was being made I was a mix of emotions; I was excited to see the characters live on screen and nervous the filmmakers wouldn’t do the book justice. Years and years (and years) ago they made my favorite Stephen King book, The Dark Half, info a movie and I was over the moon excited. Well, it was an abomination. I remember it being so bad that I was literally angry and offended! How I see it is the movie is for people who don’t read the book. I know a movie cannot be the book word for word, it can at least try to be as magnificent. Now for thousands of people who saw the movie The Dark Half they are going to walk away thinking the story is garbage and it is just not true.

The movie To Kill a Mockingbird was amazing. So I know movie adaptations of books can be wonderful. I just loved Delia Owen’s book so much that I was terrified to watch the movie and be disappointed. The movie came out this past July 2022 and I finally just wanted it last night. Don’t worry folks, no spoilers at all. This is just my mini first takes on the movie. Well, I am happy to share with all of you…I loved it! It was beautifully acted and I think they covered the most important parts of the story. I fell in love with the characters and was crying hard at the end just like I did when I read the book. If you loved the book and are scared to see the movie just like me, this is your little nudge to say go for it. You won’t regret it!
